Limerick

After Haiku...it was Limerick which again started the craze in me and Ram to pen down some lines at office while taking breaks from work. Oh Gosh those were the days...gmail and syllable counts...:D :D

What is a limerick??

Wiki describes : A limerick is a five-line poem with a strict form (AABBA), originally popularized in English by Edward Lear, which intends to be witty or humorous, and is sometimes obscene with humorous intent.

Like Haiku it's not just the syllable count, but rhyming and the toughest thing - the humor....
Salient features of a Limerick are:

1. It is five lines, single stanza poetry.

2. The syllable structure goes like this 9-9-6-6-9

3. Unlike haiku, rhyming here plays a great part. The first, second and fifth line should rhyme with another and third and fourth lines have a separate rhyming.

4. The first line should end up with a place’s name. (something really important)

5. It is supposed to be FUNNY (challenging!!).

So here goes teh first Limerick by Ram, which INTENTIONALLY is written on me....should i be happy?? well the dedication is sweet but he called it a Sitcom (God he can never be all-kind )

I Met a smart rabbit in Madras

With a special aura so wondrous
And with red hot temper
And Very horrifying anger
Still she is royal as a Heiress
